A golden lager that is light in body and highly refreshing, offering a fine balance between malt sweetness and hop bitterness. The Moosehead saga began in 1867, when Susannah Oland first brewed a solitary batch of brown October ale in her backyard in Nova Scotia. Encouraged by the welcome reception her beer received from friends and family members, Susannah and her husband, John James Dunn Oland, began to market the beer and the Oland family brewery was named the “Army & Navy Brewery,” and thrived for several years. Susannah was the only woman to run a mjor company in North America at this time. Susannah eventually retired to Virginia and her son took over the brewery renaming it “S. Oland Sons & Co.”.
